Corrie Ten Boom, in her book Amazing Love, encourages Christians to remember that Jesus not only lived and died for us 2,000 years ago, but that he currently is still for us. She writes,
“Many Christians do not sufficiently realize the work which Jesus Christ is doing for us at this very moment. Many of us believe that He died for our sins. We believe in His death and resurrection, but we forget that after His resurrection, He ascended into heaven and sat down on the right hand of the Father and began to live for us as truly as He died for us.”
Her reminder is simple and yet powerful. When people usually think of Jesus, they rightly think about his life, death, and resurrection, which he accomplished for us and our salvation. This is glorious and true.
But it is easy to stop there in one’s mind. It is encouraging to focus on the fact that he currently is just as for us as he was when he went to the cross. He is really alive right now. It is just as real that he is living for us now as it is that he died for us 2,000 years ago.
Take courage, Jesus is the Lord of all, working for you right now. Trust him.
